Over 30 years, the realization that I have been able to influence so many young minds gives me a warm feeling and gratitude for having chosen the best career. I feel a great sense of fulfillment watching them graduate, succeed, grow as responsible leaders in business and society and create meaningful lives. What is your favorite thing about the work that you do?Īs a professor, I have the privilege of welcoming new students every year, spending time with them, sharing knowledge, challenging them, opening their horizons and cultivating values that will shape their success. ![]() Today, these values are ever more important, and I am continually reminded of this powerful quote. Though I did not fully grasp the significance of the book then, I have always remembered this advice from Atticus Finch because it is the cornerstone of empathy, mutual respect and tolerance. “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, … until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”Īs a young, voracious reader, I was quite impressed by many of the quotes from To Kill a Mockingbird.
